Synonyms :  Giloy, Guduchi, Amrita,etc.

Acharya Charak has mentioned it as Medhya - That which increases intelligence.

Interesting Story behind formation of Giloy : 

After the great war of Ravana and Lord Rama ,all the monkeys fighting for Lord Rama died. Indra Devta (King od Devtas) than showered Amrit ( that which gives life ) in the form of rains and all the monkeys became alive. From these Amrit drops Giloy was formed .

Benefits : Acharya Charak says mainly it is Anti Pyretic (reduces fever).
Modern researches proves it to be Immunomodulator (Increases Immunity)

It is Rasayan, gives strength, improves digestion and balances Tridoshas .
It is very effective in all kind of Skin ailments , burning sensation , polythirst , anemia, diabetes , urinary disorders and heart problems.

How it works ?
Glucosides like Giloin, Giloinin and Gilosterol present in stem are useful in curing diseases.

Usage:

1. FEVER 
 Giloy decoction cures all kind of chronic fever and fevers of unexplained origin, Chikungunya, Dengue. It reduces the raised temprature, restores body energy and increases appetite. 

2.ARTHRITIS 
 In Rheumatoid Arthrits and Gout its decoction is highly effective. It has anti- inflammatory properties
It reduces raised Uric acid.

3. HIGH BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL
 Extract of Giloy, Haridra and Amla when taken with honey brings down raised blood sugar levels and eradicates associated Urinary troubles.

4.SKIN AILMENTS
 It purifies blood and removes toxins from blood. When giloy is taken with Neem, Guggal, Haridra, Amla, Khadir it cures all kind of itching and skin ailments. 

5. JAUNDICE 
 Giloy extract when taken with honey empty stomach in morning it improves bile secretion, removes nausea , eradicates pain in abdomen and indigestion.

6. INCREASES IMMUNITY :
 It is a powerful anti- oxidant. 

7. LIVER DISORDERS :
It detoxifies the Liver and has work wonders in cases of Fatty Liver, Hepatitis.
