POST PARTUM CARE : The Do’s and Dont's after Childbirth.





Have you ever thought why our mothers and grannies have practiced and advocates to practice  a strict life style by woman soon after child birth ?

Simple answer to this is very scientific:

During  pregnancy uterus increases  from 60 to 1000gm i.e 20 times and size 6.5 to 32 cm.
During delivery due to enormous pain and loss of blood women’s body gets weak and tired . 
Sages of Ayurveda has mentioned it as SHOONYA i.e. zero. If women doesn’t follow strict diet regime till the uterus comes to its original size than else aggravated vata  may cause many diseases which are difficult to cure and becomes incurable diseases.
In order to restore her general health , Ayurveda  strongly advocates a strict diet and routine for 42 days.
1.       Regular body massage : Massage body with luke warm medicated oils like Bala oil It is Vata pacifier and nourishes mamsa dhatu (muscle tissue ), Til Oil this improves blood circulation, pacifies Vata and restores bodily strength and gives nourishment. 

      Tying abdomen with Cloth : In Ayurveda this is known as Udarveshtan. Wrapping of abdomen does not give space to Vata (air) and cause any disease. It helps uterus to shrink back and come back to its normal place and size.


2.       Bath with herbs decoction. ( root of Erand and bhadradaru)
3.       Water used for bathing and drinking should be luke warm.
4.       Medicated water should be given to drink. (  ginger water or water boiled with 1-2 cloves ) . this water is easy to digest, improves digestion and prevents gas formation.
5.       She should not indulge in excessive tiring jobs, sex & anger.
6.       Take adequate sleep.
7.       Khichari and daliya should be consumed as they are easy to digest.
8.       milk should be  medicated.
9.       After 11 days she should start with normal diet but enriched with GHEE
Ghee nourishes her body, provides strength.

Herbs
1.       Shunthi : restores digestive fire. Helps in digesting food properly and prevents gas formation.
2.       Shatavari : Helps in formation of milk.
3.       Panchkol : combination of 5 herbs , aids digestion .Helps in blood purification.
4.       Haridra : It ‘s anti- inflammatory property helps in healing body.
5.       Bala : It is Vata pacifier. As name indicates `Bala` meaning strength. It restores strength in mother.
