Right Way to Drink WATER
Water is the Basis of our Life.
60% of human body weight is water. To sustain are our life water is very essential.
To carry out various bodily functions from regulating body temprature to metabolism of Proteins and Carbohydrates their transportation and elimination of waste material out of ourbody is all done with the help of Water.
Often we are advised to consume large amount of water during day and that too luke warm.
But this is not correct.
Every individual has its own unique body constitution; according to that requirement also varies.
Ayurveda explains it all !
When should one Drink Water ?
Thirst is the natural urge of our body which indicates requirement of water in our body. It should never be suppressed . Else, it causes various ailments.
Therefore, we should drink water whenever we feel thirsty.
Water can be taken in taken while having meal; this aids digestion and helps in proper assimilation of food.
But, If water is consumed before meals it dilutes digestive juices / lower Agni and brings Emaciation.
Water should also be avoided soon after having meal as it causes Obesity.
Stomach should always be filled with water either 1/3 or 1/4 of it's capacity.
What can one drink Post - Meals ?
After Breakfast : Fruit juice
After Lunch : Lassi ( Butter Milk)
Post Dinner : Milk ( 45 min)

- Aids Digestion : It digests the Ama (toxin formed due to undigested food
- Eradicates Fever : Digest Ama , improves Agni and cures Fever.
- Cleanses Urinary Bladder.
Who can have Luke warm Water ?
- Those who have pain in chest region.
- Those suffering from Vata disorder like ; Joint pains, Schiatica, Frozen shoulder, etc.
- Indigestion and related disorders like distention of abdomen, bloating in stomach.
- Constipation
- After eating oily and fatty food.
Who cannot have Hot / Luke warm water ?
- People of Pitta body type.
- People suffering from giddiness, vertigo .
- In Vomiting
- In Poisoning
- Fatigue
- Blood disorders and Bleeding disorders like Nose Bleed.
In above conditions one can have normal water or cooled water after heating.
In few Conditions like:
Ascites ( accumalation of fluid under peritoneum), Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Diarroeha, Oedema ( Swelling), Diabetese, Anaemia one should consume medicated water/ herbs infused water instead of plain water.
Take Small Sips of water :
In conditions like :
Anorexia, Loss of Appetite, Excessive Salivation of mouth , Fever one should consume water in sips and small quantity.
Except Summer Season and Autumn season water should be taken in moderate amount . But due to high Pitta water should be taken in large amount.
